Cowles impeller
Features
The impeller type Cowles, is an example whose design is composed of a toothed disc with small radial blades inclined and placed at the bottom and top in an interspersed manner.
This construction, together with a high rotation speed, manages to generate an enormous shear stress in the mixture. This allows to reduce the viscosity of some pseudoplastic fluids, facilitating the process to be carried out.
It works on medium sized tanks and is usually accompanied by a Gamma impeller to add axial flow.
